President Bush’s Proposed Health Care Tax Deduction

Body shape

Nothing is more complex and difficult for politicians to deal with in this country than health care. Well, President Bush is about to enter the fray with a new proposal.

There are many controversial subjects in our country. From abortion to the death penalty to Iraq, there is plenty for everyone to get worked up regardless of their political affiliation or personal views. One subject that is less glamorous is health care. Frankly, our situation is a disgrace. By most measures, we are the wealthiest country in the world. Despite this fact, a huge number of us don’t have health care coverage.

When it comes to health care, more than a few politicians have crashed and burned. The issue is complex and expensive. There are no clean, clear answers. Throw in issues of political compromise and lobbying by medical groups and the picture gets much murkier. With incredibly low popularity numbers, President Bush apparently feels now is the time to swing for the fences. Yep, he is going to enter the health care fray with his own plan.

In addressing health care coverage, President Bush has decided to take the green carrot approach. What is the green carrot approach? He is trying to offer a financial solution through the tax code. This is a common approach with the government. They can’t make smoking cigarettes illegal, but they tax them to high heaven in an attempt to stop you. This is generally known as conduct modification through your bank account.

In the case of health insurance, the President is playing with the tax deductions. Currently, employers can write off whatever they spend to pay for health coverage for employees. The payments are also not taxable to the employee as income. The problem, however, is this doesn’t cover people who are not employed full time such as self-employed individuals.

President Bush’s answer is to create a tax deduction. Although the details are a bit murky, it appears that individuals will be able to deduct up to $7,500 for payments they make for health insurance. Families would get

Is Government Health Care Really The Answer

body goal thoughts

Health insurance has become a major subject of conversation in this country. When you start looking around there are people losing their jobs and this means a lot more uninsured American’s then we have ever experienced. It’s a battle for these men and women to receive the medical care they need but will a government health care system repair these challenges or will it produce new ones. Well, the following is a little information you ought to be mindful of before making your conclusion on whether you’re for or against a Nationalized Health Care system.

1. Medicare is a government run health care system. Every year it insures less and charges individuals on the plan additional money. What used to be a free medical insurance for the elderly who have paid into the system is now being supplemented through their social security funds. The addition of Medicare Part B has resulted in aged American’s to need to pay out of pocket for their health insurance services. 2. Discrimination is faced by those who currently make use of government health care. Government health care appears to be a fine idea but when you have a look at the coverage that it is truly providing those who are already in the system, like those patients who have Medicare and Medicaid, it’s easy to see why providers attempt to not treat these patients. These government plans pay very little to providers which lends itself to providers opting not to treat these patients, simply because they don’t get paid as much to do so as they do with regular health insurance patients.

3. The Medicare system is running low. It is just a matter of time before Medicare has no more funding. It’s difficult to believe this however the issue with this system is that the individuals who are currently receiving the benefits paid a small amount into the system and the cost of wellness care has risen significantly since then, making it a system that doesn’t actually support the future, but the present. Because of this, Medicare might run out of

Health Care Reform-What It Means For Americans

body goal thoughts

We all, in recent months, have heard all the pros and cons of the health care reform debate, but as expected, most people are still confused about what to expect. While it is very clear that the U.S. health care system is in dire need of change, reform is hardly the best descriptive word, unless you are referring to who is gonna pay and who will be covered.

If you are a person who is currently uninsured due to your financial situation, unemployment, or because of a major health issue then health care reform is probably something that you will welcome. The plan is to make sure that everyone can receive coverage even if they can’t afford it or are currently ineligible due to pre-existing health issues.

This new plan will not deny health care coverage to anyone, including those who have pre-existing conditions or life threatening illnesses; everyone will be covered. Every American citizen, regardless of personal status, will be equally eligibility and no one will be turned down or turned away for health care.

As great as this idea is for everyone to have health insurance, there are very real concerns raised about this new plan. Added everyone to the health care system will have a huge impact on the cost of such a system, especially those with health issues of a serious nature and anyone who doesn’t follow a regular check up schedule. This new proposed plan is based on the balancing out theory between those who have no insurance and are less than healthy and the healthy insured and employed individuals. The concerns center around the effectiveness and extra cost associated with such a new health care plan.

Using a misleading term or name such as The Health Care Reform to describe what it really is: a Nationalized Health Plan and will bring with it, its own unique set of problems. It is very misleading, no matter how you look at it. Other nations who have adapted this type of health care, have experienced a hugh imbalance between care that is needed

Health Care Survey Finds Costs Too High

Health and Fitness

It isn’t too much of a surprise that many Americans are finding the cost of health care too high to be affordable. Having said that though, they are also happy with the quality of their health care.

It’s interesting to note that a recent survey of Americans about the health care system discovered that overall, people were pleased with the quality of the health care they received. On the other hand, the cost of health care was entirely a different matter. Cost is a flash point with many people in this recession and it should come as no shock that those being polled would respond to the higher costs of health care.

It’s not a secret that health care costs have gone up precipitously over the last few years, with seemingly no end in sight. Although with some of the recently announced changes to the system coming in 2010, the price pendulum may swing back to the point of being reasonable. And that’s the conundrum facing us today, the quality of our health care and what we should be expected to pay for it.

Two out of three people who were asked questions about their experiences with our health care system were pleased with the quality of care they received. With quality care however comes a hefty price tag, much like the saying, “You get what you pay for.” So it’s a bit of a dilemma for the system to also be condemned as not being very affordable, as in where does the system draw the line between quality and affordability? The poor affordability rating came from those who suffer from disabilities or other chronic conditions.

The number of people polled for this interesting survey was fairly representational of the American population at large, with close to 14% of those responding admitting they had no health care because they couldn’t afford it. This doesn’t address what they would do if they required health care and had to pay for the expenses incurred out of their own pockets. The respondents who did have health insurance mostly received it from an employer, who sponsored a
